It isn’t just Lawson’s dark chocolate, unusually regal birthmark that sets him apart from the rest. It’s his warm angelic tenor voice.
Born in West Palm Beach, Florida, Lawson, the oldest of three, began singing before he could speak, a gift he inherited from his beloved great-grandmother, Earlene.
In high school, Lawson’s love of music deepened and he landed a full-scholarship to Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX, where his music and acting training sharpened his ability to deliver power vocals and really sell a song.
Lawson possesses the worldly gift of music. He has toured Asia as a soloist in the hit musical Rent and has since been commissioned for professional performances throughout Italy, The Caribbean, Canada and North America. Lawson pinpoints the time he sang one microphone away from the great Hollywood actor, the late Ossie Davis, as one of his most memorable moments on stage.

Currently co-writing with the versatile and talented producer Dan Whittemore of Swagger Studios, Lawson composes universal music that inspires and uplifts.

Pulling from influences like John Legend, Sinatra (Michael Buble), Maxwell, George Michael and even Coldplay, Lawson has created a groundbreaking new sound that is sure to reach the masses. “Lawsonsoul is Rock, Jazz and Soul. It encompasses real melodies and poetic lyrics that encourage us to live and love. It's a fusion of styles that really speak to me.”

Since he first heard “Used to Love You” monopolizing the radio waves, Lawson has dreamt of working with John Legend. He also looks forward to near future collaborations with Neyo, Kirk Franklin and the legendary Burt Bacharach .
The stage is set, the musicians are waiting in the wings. Get ready to be blessed as Lawson takes the spotlight that is rightfully his.
Lawson currently makes his home between Queens, NY and Los Angeles.
